My introduction to Direct Primary Care (DPC) came during what started as a concerning personal health experience. While traveling in Arkansas, I fell ill but was hesitant to see an unfamiliar doctor. I decided to wait until I returned home to visit my regular family physician. Unfortunately, upon calling my doctor’s office, I learned he was on a two-week vacation. The staff’s only suggestion was to visit the ER or a night clinic – neither option appealed to me.

While expressing my frustration to my wife, she mentioned a new cash-pay clinic that had recently opened. This led me to Dr. Steve Robison, who not only accepted me as a patient but went above and beyond by making a house call to check on my condition. His examination revealed I had double pneumonia. Looking back, I’m grateful for his intervention and care – without it, my condition could have been much worse.

Later in my career, I found myself running a company with over 500 employees. As I evaluated our rising healthcare costs, I was introduced to an innovative DPC startup in Harlingen, TX called Frontier Direct Care (FDC). We successfully integrated their program into our company’s healthcare strategy, saving millions of dollars while maintaining comprehensive coverage for our high-risk employees.

My experience with FDC was so positive that after selling my company, I joined their team to lead business development. This role has given me the incredible opportunity to meet fantastic DPC practitioners from across the country, further cementing my belief in the transformative power of the Direct Primary Care model.

Today, I am a passionate advocate for DPC and its movement to provide real, personalized care to all who need it. I believe deeply that your DPC provider should be your front door to healthcare – you never have to feel confused or alone when facing medical decisions. Through DPC, we’re creating a healthcare experience that puts people first, providing the guidance and support everyone deserves when managing their health.
