Wayne’s journey into DPC began with a personal health scare that highlighted the challenges of accessing timely medical care. While traveling in Arkansas, he fell ill but hesitated to consult an unfamiliar doctor. Opting to wait until he returned home, he was met with further disappointment when he discovered his regular family physician was on a two-week vacation. Faced with limited options, including a visit to the ER or a night clinic, he sought an alternative solution.

It was during this time that Wayne’s wife mentioned a newly opened cash-pay clinic. This led him to Dr. Steve Robison, who not only accepted him as a patient but also went above and beyond by making a house call. Dr. Robison’s examination revealed Wayne had double pneumonia. Reflecting on the experience, Wayne credits the timely intervention and personalized care he received with preventing a more severe outcome.

Later in his career, he served as the leader of a company with over 500 employees. Confronted with escalating healthcare costs, he discovered Frontier Direct Care (FDC), an innovative DPC startup in Harlingen, TX. By integrating FDC’s program into the company’s healthcare strategy, Wayne achieved significant savings while preserving comprehensive care for high-risk employees.

Wayne’s positive experience with FDC inspired him to join the organization after selling his company. As the head of business development, he has had the privilege of collaborating with dedicated DPC practitioners nationwide, further strengthening his belief in the model’s potential to transform healthcare.
